Potentially, he could become a registered sex offender if convicted. Get an attorney for him.

California Penal Code section 314 prohibits "indecent exposure". In addition to fines and incarceration, a Penal Code 314 conviction triggers a lifetime duty to register as a California sex offender.
If convicted of "simple" misdemeanor indecent exposure, he faces up to six months in a county jail, a maximum fine of $1,000, and a lifetime duty to register as a sex offender pursuant to Penal Code section 290.
