Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
My husband has been given a year he has the choice to do it in the local county jail or go to prison he is trying to keep his green card which options is advised?

Neither, he should apply for house arrest if possible. Once he goes into Jail, he runs the risk of ICE picking him and doing a deportation hearing.

I agree with Mr. Zarabi. The immigration consequences of a conviction can be very harsh and may include deportation. Hopefully this was all explained to your husband prior to his conviction.

Either is likely to get him deported, simply because he was convicted of a crime. .
