Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Is it illegal to impersonate an attorney (in California) for the purpose of scaring (court action) a person to give them money (over $1,000). As far as I know, when an attorney is contracted by someone who wants to recuperate money from another person, doesn't the attorney mail a letter (w/ letterhead) informing that person w/ the claims, instead of having a secretary call and tell them to meet somewhere to settle?

It is illegal for someone to impersonate an attorney. You need to find the name of the attorney and check their membership with the California State Bar. You can do it online at:

Does the term 'felony' have any meaning to you? That is the penalty for impersonation of an attorney for the purpose of obtaining money.
