Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

What information is required for a traffic ticket to be valid?

I was issued a traffic ticket on 10/16/97 for expired registration, and proof of registration, and insurance. the ticket has no time entered on it except fo the am box is checked. Also in the race box I am listed as hispanic, I am not hispanic, nor was I asked what my correct nationality was. I was wondering what information they are required to print on the actual ticket.

Incorrect information means What?

In an ideal world, all information on a ticket ought to be filled out perfectly and correctly. Last time I checked, this wasn't exactly an ideal one. Police Officers are still allowed to be human and to make human mistakes. This does not mean that the failure of information to be correct and complete is not relevant. To the extent that the failure of the officer to be correct and thorough can be argued to demonstrate an overall lack of attention to detail and correct observation can be used to argue that he is also in error about other more fundamental points. Obviously, however, trying to argue that the officer is just a liar because he erred about calling you hispanic probably isn't going to fly. How likely is it that the error was reasonably made? eg. are you real tan? Maybe if in cross examination you elicited other racially motivated statements, you may be well on the way to winning.
