Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Many issues, need legal advice.
Ok, I live in the state of California. I am 21 years old, and I was dating a 15 year old. The father didn't want to allow it so he called me and had me break it off. Since then I have no seen her, and since dating her I have never touched her, only dated. My questions is... My ex gf's mom wants to move out, but doesn't want the father to try to press legal actions against me. Am I safe, or can he do anything to me, considering I didn't do anything to the girl? Also, the 15 year old girl wants to move with her mom, what are her rights as a child? The mother recently called me and is scared of the father, and asked me to look it up, and i had no where else to go. Could I get into huge trouble with him just accusing me?

Yes, you could get into HUGE trouble. You need to stay away from the girl and hope that the father doesn't report this to the police. Not only can you be arrested, if convicted or if you plead guilty to lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor, you will have to register as a sex offender for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. You need to stay as far away as possible until she's 18.

Does the term 'statutory rape' ring a bell with you. Prison time is the consequence of conviction.
