Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Does this item fall under CA PC 12020?

The item is http://budk.com/Self-Defense/Cold-Steel-Mini-Ko....

And if it does fall under any part of 12020 what if the citation says 12020(b)(14)?

I don't know if they can change the code/subsection before my court date, but if they can't/don't does b14 just apply for exception to subsection 1 and how would that effect me?

I am not charged with selling, would I have to be to fall under 12020.1?

And how would the case S167716 - People v David V. effect me?

Thank you

You're going to need a lawyer. The public defender doesn't have time to bother with novel legal arguments. The lawyer you hire will research the applicable case law. Yes, they can add more charges before your first court date. Make sure you get a lawyer well in advance of your first court date.

Charges can be amended or added at any time during the process, so if the DA sees they filed wrong, or not enough charges, they will correct it. If you are serious about hiring counsel to defend you, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.

I can't tell what weapon you are referring to from your link. I can only access the general site, and cannot tell what it is specifically that you are referring to.
