Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Jailed

If I am arrested for a felony - not for a violent crime! Like for shoplifting or theft. How long can I expect to stay in jail if I can't post bail? I am not a flight risk and i am a first time offender.

If you don't make bail, or are not granted OR release, you will stay in jail until the conclusion of the trial process. Then if convicted, you would be sentenced to whatever time the court arrived at through determinate sentencing rules, or negotiated plea, which would have to be served, with credit for time served. Sounds like you need an attorney to me. There may be defenses, and there is value to your clean record. But, get an attorney or you will not like the outcome. Contact me if interested.
