Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I live in Los Angeles, and my girlfriend wants me to move in with her but she is a legal gun owner and I'm a convicted felon. Is it legal for us to live together with guns in the house? If so, can I be aressted because she has guns in the house even though they are in a locked safe that I dont have access to?

For a felon prohibited from possessing guns, it is a serious risk for him living in a house where there is a gun. It would require there be a proper gun safe to which the felon has no access, key or combination, and that it preferably be in a locked room to which the felon has no access or key. He can not even be in the presence of firearms or ammunition without risk of being charged with a felony.
I agree with Mr. Nelson. While legally you can live in the house and you do nothing illegal if a law enforcement officer finds reason to come into the house you may be charged with being in possession of the gun and regardless of the law it will be your burden to prove your innocence--not a position you want to be in.
