how long?
what do i face against CA law penal code, section 490.5, and misdemeanor pc503-embezzlement.

If the two charges refer to the same theft/conduct it appears you might be looking at six months in county jail, if two separate misdemeanors then up to one year. Regardless, the most important factors in predicting applicable sentence, rather than what the statute says, would be prior record (or lack thereof), amount of loss/theft, ability to pay restitution in full and quickly as well as the court where the charges are filed. Perhaps charges could be reduced to an infraction or entirely dismissed, depending on the facts. Max six months jail and $1000 fine for the 490.5 petty theft, and the same amounts for the related 503 embezzlement, UNLESS it was from the government, in which case the 503 becomes a felony with prison time.
