How long can you be held on an arrest warrant in the state of California before seeing a judge?

You have to be seen by a judge within 72 court hours from the time of arrest. If not, you should be released from custody.

I don't know where everyone is getting the 72 hours from.

Arraignments must occur within 48 hours, excluding Sundays and holidays unless that would fall at a time in which the court is not in session. (Pen. Code, � 825.) In that case, defendants must be arraigned on the next court day.
