Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I am a medical doctor and rendered services to a patient successfully. Subsequently, the patient's insurance company sent a check for my services to the patient and the patient cashed the check and will not pay me. What crimes can the patient be charged and guilty of? Theft? Insurance Fraud? Can I send a letter to the patient threatening criminal prosecution? The cost of the services are above $10,000.

Sue the patient, and send a copy to the insurance company with a letter requesting they help you.
