Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Military felony charges

I just recently found out that I have a felony charge from1988 on my record. I have never had this come up on a background check for work before. How do I find out the details and how to fix it fast? I live in WA. right now, but the charge is from California, I believe.

Re: Military felony charges

FIX IT? If you're saying it is an error, and this isn't your conviction, then you'll have to go to that court and prove your ID to convince them it isn't you and that the record needs to be updated and corrected; this can be done and the federal database corrected with the right effort.

If it IS your conviction, there is no 'quick fix'. Depending upon the charges, you might be able to get it expunged with proper motions to the court, which will take some time and attorney fees. No expungement is possible if prison time was ordered, even if not served, or if it was for certain crimes that are not expungeable.

If you want the legal help you'll need, if the case is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. You can tell what court this is from by checking the 'record' you discovered.
