Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Misdemeanor Espungement

20 years ago I was arrested on a misdemeanor violation. It is and was my only trouble with the law. I pleaded ''no contest'' and took a class that would espunge the incident from my life. I was told that when asked in the future I would not have to mention this incident. In the event of a background investigation for a job, is this true? When asked about any past arrests, can I put ''NO''? If not, what is the point of having it espunged?

Re: Misdemeanor Espungement

If it is already showing as a dismissal, nothing further can be done. If a conviction, then you can have counsel file for expungment, given your stated facts. If no conviction is on your record, you answer NO to civilian job applications, but must disclose to govt and licensing agencies. Contact me if you need expungement done.
