misdemeanor

my husband is being charged with two counts in violation of penal code section 242 involing violence and force on a woman. what are the possible consequences of this? and what does it mean that the people request discovery from the defendant as required by penal code 1054.3

Potential prison time. The discovery is a normal part of the legal proceedings he has to comply with. He'd better get an attorney. Feel free to contact me if in SoCal courts and he's serious about hiring private counsel, or apply for the public defender if he qualifies.

This is what is called a simple misdemeanor battery punishable by up to six months in county jail. Unless case can be beaten/dismissed, most significant factors weighing upon the result will be prior record and where the case is located. You need to contact an attorney. Most of them will not charge you for an initial consultation.
