Re: misdemeanors

Misdemeanor arrests and convictions stay in the official CLETS (Cal. Law Enforcement Teletype System) ("your record") for 10 years, supposedly. The records can be "expunged" for most, but not all, purposes when you complete probation. Theft and fraud convictions tend to stay around forever (private database companies keep records). Marijuana-possession convictions are supposed to go away after 2 years.

Re: misdemeanors

Forever, just like any other conviction. Now, if you want to try to get it off, you can petition the court for expungement, IF it is a category that can be expunged, and IF you completed all terms of your probation, and IF you didn't get a subsequent conviction. Feel free to contact me if you wish legal help in doing so.
