Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Mother being charged with ''Accessory after the fact''

I am being charged with ''accessory after the fact'', my son is being charged with what they cal an open count of ''murder''. Are there any laws that protect me as his mother from being charged? I just read in Florida, per state law, parents who try to protect thier children , cannot be charged for ''accessory after the fact'' Are there any laws here in Calif to protect me? Any advise or direction would be great.

There is no such law in California, and you may get a very long prison term if you are convicted. Get the best defense attorney you can, and be prepared to sacrifice other priorities in order to fight this battle. Do not count on your son's attorney representing you, since there is likely to be an inherent conflict of interests in such dual representation.

No. You are on the hook if the DA intends to prosecute. You face substantial jail time, so get yourself a good attorney immediately. He may be able to get you out of the case or a 'deal' that you can accept. Ultimately, unless you can get the case dismissed through motions and pleadings, you either get a deal or go to trial. Contact me if interested.
