Murder is against the law in California and most other jurisdictions. The law against murder is Penal Code Section 187 that you can look up at www.leginfo.ca.gov . There are also laws against other homicide crimes such as manslaughter, and there are various types and degrees of murder such as 1st degree, 2nd degree, murder with special circumstances, etc. Most attorneys spend at least a whole semester in law school learning about the different types of homicide crimes and the various defenses such as self-defense, defense of others, insanity, accidents, etc. If you or someone you know is accused of murder, consult an attorney right away.
