to me that means notification (notice) that criminal charges have been filed ... in what context are you asking? Good luck!

Sounds like you got a letter from the DA or court saying criminal charges have been filed against you, notifying you of a court hearing for you to appear. It is a courtesy to you to avoid being arrested at home or work. It is normal done only on cases where they don't anticipate you'll flee to avoid prosecution. You must go to the court hearing to avoid an arrest warrant being issued.

If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a dismissal, charge reduction, diversion, programs, or other decent outcome through motions, plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate.

If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight this and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses there may be.
