Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was just ordered 60 hours community service, 60 AA meetings, and a 12 hour class. I am moving out of state in less than 2 months and will not be able to complete this before then. What can I do?

You will either do what you were ordered to do, or have an arrest warrant issued for you when your 'completion date' comes around. You should have raised these issues at the time of your plea bargain or sentencing. To now try to get your sentence terms approved for completion in another jurisdiction, you will have to file a motion with the court. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.

You should contact the probation department to see if you can transfer the requirements to the county in the state you are relocating to. I would recommend, however, that you try complete as much as you can before you relocate, especially the 12 class hours. The specific type of class hours may not available in your new location, and this could be a problem in the future. The community service and AA meetings shouldn't be a problem since you can probably fulfill these requirements in pretty much any county in the US. Once again and most importantly, contact the probation department to make sure you can properly satisfy you sentence.
