Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i ordered a lot of things from a on line store but they didn't have my blanket available and said thed credit me for it, however they ended up crediting me for the total amount spent a little over $2,500 in the form of gift cards. will i be held legally responsible if i send that money?

I assume you mean "spend that money". Sure you will be in trouble. You have accidently gotten some money you know you are not legally entitled to and you intend to use it as your own instead of returning it to the owner. You are basically "stealing" the money.

If you take or spend money that doesn't belong to you, it is a crime. You choose.
