You have to appear in the court that issued the warrant, deal with the judge about the charges and warrant penalties, comply with whatever penalties and costs the court imposes, and then get a' release' from the court which you'll take to DMV and pay their fees and comply with their rules for reissuance.

You have a couple of issues. The fine, which I suspect is now more than $500.00 due to penalties and interest. The fine may have been turned over to collection but the court will still accept the pay off for it. You also must deal with the warrant that was probably issued for your arrest due to not taking care of the thing. In order to have the warrant recalled, you will need to appear in the court that issued the warrant and request it be recalled. However, generally you can not just walk into court. You must put the matter on the court's calendar. This is where things can get a little messy. Hopefully you have all your information, if not you must go to the clerk's office of the court that issued the warrant and get all the necessary information. You will need the case number and the dates. You will then request to put the matter back on calendar. Then when you appear you must show the court the fine has been paid and make a request regarding what you are seeking to accomplish. It is not an overly difficult process but it becomes more difficult if you do not know how to work in the system. I suggest you contact a private attorney to help you with the matter. Although, it will cost you some money, the final result will probably be better. In fact hiring an attorney may end up being less expensive than doing it yourself. You want a criminal defense attorney.

Good luck

The information exchanged in this message does not create an attorney-client relationship and there is no attorney client privilege associated with it. The information is based on generally principles of law and is not legal advice. This type of communication makes it impossible to give an accurate assessment of a particular case. In order to get information you can consider legal advise I suggest you make an appointment with attorney in your area and seek out their legal advice.

Good luck,

Brian
