If you're on felony probation, you've been convicted of a felony.
It is against the law for convicted felons to possess guns OR ammunition, period. It doesn't matter if you have one or the other, or both. Having a single bullet, even without a gun, could send a convicted felon to prison for three years in addition to any time for a probation violation.
If a person possesses the ammo legally, they do not have to have a gun.

Anyone who has been convicted of a felony is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. It is a felony to do so.
