Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Ive been on parole in Ca for two years for robbery. I got one stike for it as it was a violent crime. After no violations for two years my paole officer said they wont let me off b/c it was a violent crime and now i have to do the full three years. The minimum i had to do was two years, can my parole officer keep me on based just on my crime w/o any violations?

The short answer is yes. Allow me to explain, the default period of parole is three years. It is not that they are keeping you on parole longer than you should be. They have discretion to terminate parole early however when a person is convicted of serious or violent crimes they do not have that discretion and they probably would not exercise it if they did.
