Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Where do I pay my judgement when lawyer is disbarred

I have a legal judgement against me that I have paid to the plantiffs attorney now for over 12 years. This month the check was returned to me and when I looked up the lawyer, he has been disbarred. He has no forwarding address, the phone number is disconnected and I can no longer find the plaintiffs. It is my understanding that they left the state (CA) many years ago. Where do I now pay the monthly restitution? Should I put it in a savings account in case they ever try to come after me? I have paid this money faithfully but now I do not know if any of the money was ever getting to the plaintiffs.

You should consult with another lawyer, and bring a copy of the settlement agreement and of any other documents you have related to the settlement and your payments.

Yes, put it regularly in a savings account because if the plaintiffs come after you, you'll need to be able to pay it. You should also contact the State Bar and advise them of the situation, request their help. God forbid, but it may be possible the attorney was not sending the money on to his clients.
