Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

The police called me (I didnt call them)from a person's house and recorded threatening remarks I made to the person. Then they drove to my house (30 min) and got me out of bed to arrest me instead of sending the local sheriff. I need to know everything there is about proper procedure that must be followed for law enforcement to tape a phone call. I have never even met the person I threatened. I have 2 prior felonies 15 years ago and they are trying to give me 3 strikes for this dumb argument with a girl over some guy.

Whether you think this a 'dumb' deal or not, you face at least 25 to life on one count, there could be multiple charges. If you intend to represent yourself, and do so on the basis of some anonymous 'hints and tips' from the internet, good luck, and pack a toothbrush. The police conduct can be challenged by appropriate supressions motions and preliminary hearings. If you want to take it seriously and get counsel, feel free to contact me if in SoCal.
