If you are a witness, the court could fine you, and/or issue a warrant for your arrest; if the paper you received was a summons or a small claims order to appear, you could lose your case, and your wages, money and property could be taken by the sheriff. It really depends on the type of case.

If the subpoena was served properly, the court issues a warrant to have you arrested.
