Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Photos on the internet
I recently posted a picture of an ex friend on the internet. while it was sexually explicit it did not have her face or any of her information. She has since filed a police report and lied to them saying that I hacked into her cellphone and stole the picture and that I posted her personal information. I didnt she posted it on a public forum and I copied it and posted it. I have since be contacted by a det. that seems to think a crime has been committed. I would like to know what the next step is and whether or not I can/should call the DA. Any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Don't talk to the police or DA. Ask for a lawyer. If you are charged, retain one.
Re: Photos on the internet
Under NO circumstances you should talk to the police or the DA without an attorney. They are not your friends. Their task will be to build a case against you and to try to use anything you say against you.
You should get an attorney involved to assist you at this investigatory stage, even before any charges are filed, to try to nip this whole thing in the bud. It is quite possible talking to the police will be the best option and having an attorney will ensure that you will not be tricked or will not say anything that might be self-incriminating. In addition, anything the attorney would say cannot be used against you.
Hope this helps,

"Shut up" is the only advice of value to you. DA's will be happy to tell you that 95 percent of people convict themselves by trying to be 'helpful' or 'cooperative' and talk to police. Get an attorney. If the case is in SoCal, feel free to contact me.
