Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

if i pleaded not guilty, went through a jury trial with the jury unable to decide (hung, deadlocked?) does the da have the right to set another court date with in 60 days and leave my case status as "open" in the mean time?

Yes, they do. If the split among the jury was heavily in your favor, your lawyer may invite the court to dismiss the case, but that is at the discretion of the judge.
