what is the charge on which you were arrested or held? DNA collection "goes with" certain (alleged) crimes. California law allows for it in certain situations. It is for submitting to a DNA database.

I agree with Ms. Hofmeister. The law requires DNA collection for several crimes. It is often a part of the judge's orders at sentencing.

Why? It is mandatory under the law to take it for most crimes.
