Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Police found 0.7 grams of meth in my car
I was pulled over last week for registration exp. The cops walked up to the car and saw a marijuana pipe oon the seat next to me. So they had me get out and I passed all the tests they gave me, but as one of them searched my car, He found a bag of meth that was in the somewhere. I had no idea it was in there. A lot of people have used my car. Anyhow, i was taken to the police station where they took my prints and picture, and then they let me go and gave me a paper that says i was released because of paragraph 1 of subdivision b of penal code section 849. So what does that mean? What should I do? Can I get this dismissed? or is it even something i need to worry about now? They told me to just go ahead and leave. And they would not answer any of my questions because i wouldnt answer their questions without an attorney present. SO now what do I do or should i get an attorney to prepare for anything? Im lost. Never been in trouble before with this , I have no record

Yes, you're in trouble. You've been found in possession of a lethal narcotic that the State of California and the City of Los Angeles deem inherently dangerous. Get a lawyer and find out who's been using your car and get them treatment. Good luck.
