possesion of marijuana

mike was caught with a pipe and a small bud of marijuana at his high school was given a ticket he is attending drug counceling now has a court date soon he just turned 18yrs old and this is his first offence is there any way to get this off his record?

Records are forever. If he is charged in adult court, there are many ways of dealing with such charges. An attorney may be able to get a plea bargained deal that will keep his record clean. Yes, Mike should get a good lawyer who would resolve the case with something other than a conviction on his record. Even though possession of a small amount of marijuana is not a serious crime (you can only get a fine of $100) it is is misdemeanor which would stay on his record. The conviction could make it difficult for him to obtain student financial aid in the future, for example.
