Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Possesion of a switchblade
I got a written up for having a butterfly knife in my car but on the ticket the officer wrote that i was age 21 when infact i was only 20. i am wondering if the ticket can be dismissed for being filled out improperly. Any information would be extremely helpful.

Nice try. Simple errors like this don't have any effect on a ticket as long as it is clear who is being cited and what the charges are. Justice would not be served by letting defendants go free whenever an officer makes such a trivial mistake.
You are obviously the person the officer intended to cite since you're the one he handed the ticket to and since your name is on it. Nothing you have said suggests that the charges are unclear, so it seems you're out of luck.
Re: Possesion of a switchblade
Nice try. Minor errors exist every day in these proceedings. If every charge had to be dropped for such trivial errors, the system wouldn't work. Step up to the plate and handle the case seriously. You face potential jail and fines and record, get an attorney if you want the best outcome.

You're not going to get the charges dismissed simply because the officer filled that one part out incorrectly. I agree with the previous answers.
