It is a 'small' misdemeanor, but conviction or plea will go on your permanent criminal record. A frequent sentence is for fines and probation, maybe an order to alcohol school, if you have no prior record. Sometimes, courts may offer a sentence that will result in dismissal at the end of a probation period. Fines frequently can be in the hundreds of dollars or more total, as the court system is hard up for revenue these days. Attorneys' charges vary considerably, depending on experience and perceived value - from hundreds to thousands of dollars. If serious about hiring counsel, contact me.

The goal will be to avoid a conviction in any way possible. What can you do about that? It depends - on the facts, your prior record (if any) and what you and your lawyer can work out. There are things you and your attorney can do even before your court date to get you in the best possible position for a good outcome.
