Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Posting of Picture/Sexual Related Lies

There is a website (2 actually) that have posted some fact, but mostly lies about me. Horrendous, vicous lies. They have posted my picture the town I live in and even where I used to go socially. The person that posted this information has also made verbal threats via telephone. What can I do to ensure the sites take down the posting? I have asked repeatedly via email to the website administration. I want this to stop. If my research is correct, libel action is not really an option but I believe that it may be stalking/cyber stalking and criminal. These people have even posted questions I have asked on sites like this that say dont sue, and act like they can do whatever they please with no recourse.

Re: Posting of Picture/Sexual Related Lies

Immediate action seems to be to report the activity to the police and hire counsel to send demand letters to the web sites, and persons involved...defamation suits are an option but may not be cost effective.

File complaints with your local police, and with the FBI. Libel/slander action could be brought, with difficulty in finding the actual people involved, but unless they have income and assets to collect against, it would cost you money you wouldn't get back.
