Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Power of Attorney

My brother (who is an Indonesian citizen and legally worked here in america) had his tax return check cashed by a resident at our previous address. We have contacted the bank and IRS. My brother is now living back in Indonesia. How do we go about obtaining power of attorney from my brother to me so that I may handle this problem?

Have him sign a CA properly worded Power of Attorney notarized in his country, along with a cover letter fully explaining his desires for its use. That's as good as you're going to get without him returning here. Feel free to contact me for legal help in drafting; it's not a big project. You may also need legal help in the process at this end, collecting and dealing with the bank and IRS.
