Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I would like to know that if I was preparing for trial in a criminal case but we have not started am I able to relieve the lawyer I have now and find another one or is it to late. The reason being is we are not on the same page I feel we need paticular experts for the defense and my lawyer does not agree. Should I be concerned

California allows you to fire your lawyer at any time, with or without cause. The big issue is whether the court will appoint a new attorney for you, or continue the trial. If the judge thinks you are stalling, and you have a history of stalling in the case, and repeatedly changing lawyers at the last minute, the judge can deny granting a continuance.
