If you are charged with a criminal offense and cannot afford to hire an attorney on your own, the court is obligated to provide one for you. Go to court on the date you're ordered to appear and when your case is called, tell the judge you want an attorney appointed. They may have you fill out paperwork regarding your financial situation or just ask you questions. If you meet the criteria, the court will appoint a lawyer to represent you.
Good luck to you.
