Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Public Defender help

I was issued a warrant for my arrest and recently found out about it by searcing online. I was arrested 8 months ago but let go because no charges were filed. I was never given a chance to speak to a public defender and do no have enough money to hire a private lawyer myself. What can I do to clear up this warrant? How can I get appointed a public defender? Am I facing prison time if I turn myself in?

Re: Public Defender help

If you can't afford a private attorney, you should qualify for the PD. Contact them about the warrant. Only if they refuse you, and you can't get private counsel, should you go to court on your own. Whether you go to jail depends on how the judge views your excuses. You'll likely have better luck with an attorney. You have to get the warrant recalled, and you have to handle the criminal charges now against you. If you decide to hire counsel, contact me if the case is in SoCal.
