Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was pulled over in Arizona for speeding. The officers searched my vehicle and purse. I have a Medical marijuana card issued in California. I had 1/8 oz of marijuana and a rice crispie edible. I now have to appear in Arizona in two weeks. What do I need to do to protect myself ?

Unfortunately, your medical recommendation is only good here. Arizona law will apply to your case. The bottom line is that you'll need a local criminal defense attorney in Arizona. Take the next couple days to search for an attorney that routinely practices in the courthouse where your case will be heard. Don't delay, as there may be a way they can appear on your behalf without you having to travel back for your court date.

Good luck.

You need to consult with an Arizona lawyer, or at least re-post your question under Arizona law. Other states do not have to respect California medical-marijuana cards. Some of them might anyway, at least to a degree. The effect of those cards might vary quite a bit from one state to another. Only an Arizona lawyer can tell you what to expect in an Arizona court.

Good luck.

Protect yourself??

Hire an AZ attorney. as no one in CA can help you fight whatever criminal charges you face in AZ.

FYI:

CA has an actual official medical marijuana card issued by the state upon s doctors certification of medical need, which allows you to possess a small personal use quantity. Local CA dispensaries and co-ops will happily sell you a card made on their photocopy machine, which is not CA official. Both are sometimes accepted by local CA police to avoid an arrest for small possession. The cards are a Politically Correct fiction in California ONLY, not binding upon federal or any other state's law enforcement or courts.
