Can I purchase a gun if I am on informal probation

Informal probation does not create a gun ban unless your sentencing specifically says so, or you are otherwise banned because of felony conviction, mental committment, or DV restraining order. .

It's not the informal probation as Mr. Nelson points out. It depends on what the underlying charge is. Some misdemeanor convictions carry a ten year gun ban.
