question about sealing juvenile record

I took a possesion charge 11350-A for my boyfriend when i was 17. He had a record and was an adult. I am now 25 in nursing school i graduate this month and i am worried about taking my board exam. I cant get any help at courthouse they say the case was terminated and they have no jurisdiction.That was my first and only crime. and the lawyer who handled my case has passed away. can you please help being a nurse is my dream. Can i have my record sealed or destroyed.Any help would be appreciated thank you.

If you were charged as an adult, you can probably have it expunged, BUT it would still have to be accurately disclosed on nursing board applications, and other government applications and licensing. If you were charged as a minor, the record is already supposed to be 'sealed', but again you are required to disclose. If you lie about that conviction, you would likely be automatically barred from licensing or any other employment because of 'perjury' and resume fraud on your application.

Such conviction does not necessarily bar you from licensing, so you have some hope remaining.

Expungement would help you with private employment applications though, so consider doing it anyway.

Someone should have told you about these issues before you ever started nursing program.
