Ask your probation officer if on formal probation, his opinion is the only one that matters. If on informal probation, you'll have to see if there is a drug prohibition in the terms of your probation order, and you'll have to judge for yourself the risk of arrest for possession or other crime, which would by itself violate your probation. An actual legitimate prescription from a doctor treating you for chemotherapy or other recognized conditions would be relatively safe to rely upon. The 'medical' marijuana card concept in CA is a politically correct fiction ignored by DEA and federal prosecutors. There are many inmates in federal prison for simple drug possession, and there are many people arrested for possession, with or without 'card'.
