Receiving stolen property

I was charged w/rec. stolen prop. the case was dismissed at prelims due to lack of evidence my bail was $10,000 they have since refiled the cas against me this time my bail is $100,000 why is this? More evidence has been found that is why they have refiled and I'm a co-defendant now but the case is being handled separately(?) can I ask for a different public defender and what can I expect to happen,I have a clean record no priors or anything?

Even if filed separately, the cases quite possibly could be consolidated, depending on facts and circumstances. If you want a different public defender, generally, you would need to show to the court that the current PD has not performed his duties properly.
