Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I recently had my juvenile adjudication of 264.1 PC dismissed pursuant to section 1772 & 1179 WIC. The case is 17 years old and I have been registering since I left out of CYA/DJJ in 2003. What happens now that the offense is now dismissed and I am relieved of all penalties and disabilities? Who will notify the agency where I register at that I no longer have to register? I have a copy of the order from the judge with her signature and I had the clerk certify it with the superior court stamp and sign it. I made several copies. Do I take a copy a the police department? I mailed out copies to the DOJ and the DJJ already, but I haven't given a copy to the police department yet....reason being because I'm not sure if they would believe the order was true or not and beause I honestly don't want to have to deal with them asking me a series of irrelevent questions and then telling me I need to jump through some weird loopholes in order for them to honor the order. Obviously my experience with them has been less than favorable even though I have not had any tickets, arrests, or anything else. Please advise me of what happens now in regards to the dismissal of my juvenile adjudication. Thanks.

Your court orders will define what has or has not been done, and whether registration is still required or you are relieved. Disbelieving what government agencies tell you is not wise. Submit your paperwork in good faith, and if they say you need more, then obtain it. If you need to hire counsel to help obtain appropriate court orders and corrections, feel free to contact me.
