Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was recently pulled over while I had a suspended license for a prior DUI. I also had warrants at the time, so i got out of my car and ran. I got away, but got a letter from the court with a 5 misdomeanor charges: resisting an officer, speed exhibition, driving with suspended license, refusal to blood alchol test, and unlicensed driver. I know i'm an idiot. But how much trouble am I really in? Will I most likely do time? Should i be looking for a lawyer, or is there no point in trying to fight it.
Thank you

I would definately hire an attorney to help you address these charges. Some of the charges are very serious and you could potentially do time on them.
It is hard to tell if it is likely you will do time, but with the right attorney you may be successful in beating some of the charges, having some dismissed, and hopefully, not do any custody.
Feel free to give me a call if you need further assistance or have questions. Take care.
Your best chance is always to put up a good fight. You should probably consult a lawyer in your area so that you can discuss the case in better detail
Good luck
Get a lawyer. Hire one yourself if you can; otherwise, rely on a public defender. Even if the case against you is very solid (which it might not be), a lawyer may be able to negotiate a deal involving reduced charges and a reduced punishment. You almost certainly could not do that on your own.
Good luck.
You're in five misdemeanor criminal charges worth of trouble, each one with potential jail time. Hire an attorney. The prosecutor has to be able to prove the charges, and your attorney will use whatever evidence, or lack, there is to defend your cases. If serious about hiring counsel, feel free to contact me.
