Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I recently received a call from a detective saying that I had been named 3 years earlier in receiving oral sex from a minor. The detective said they were getting ready to retire and was attempting to clear up old case files. I was asked if this sounded familiar. To which I said no. After this the detective pretty much told me good luck with my future schooling and to not receive oral from a minor. Should I retain legal counsel to defend my good name? Is this matter going to be dropped?

It would be nothing but speculation to make a prediction about the outcome of this. The detective is obviously investigating the matter. If you are aware of a potential charge, and have more factual information that you are not providing here, I suggest you at least speak to an attorney. You have the right to have an attorney present when speaking to detectives.

Defend your good name?? You defend against criminal charges that may be brought against you. The only advice appropriate here is for you to exercise your 5th Amendment right to SHUT UP and do not talk to anyone except an attorney about this if contacted again by law enforcement. If you are in SoCal, and are serious about hiring counsel then, feel free to contact me.
