Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I recently got a ticket for possession of meth and driving on a suspended license in Orange County, CA. There is a date of 1/18/19 to appear in court but I know for sure that the case hasn’t been filed yet. Is it mandatory that I appear in court to have the DA office sign off that I was there or can I just do the standard of waiting for a letter that it’s been files &call; in every few days to check if it’s been filed? Cuz I’m out of town and don’t want to pay to go back there, for nothing

If you don't appear, you face potential arrest warrant on the new charges of 'failure to appear'. I'd get myself a competent criminal defense attorney and follow his advice. If serious about hiring counsel, contact. me.
