Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I was recently given a ticket with the urinating in public charge in Fullerton, CA. 7.110.010(A) FUMC

I honestly don't even know if I urinated but I know it looked as if I did. the cops were in an unmarked car and just asked for my id, one of them told me that it would be between a $750-1000 ticket but nothing would go on my record even though its marked as a misdemeanor on the ticket. Is this "knowledge" from him credible? what am i looking forward to?

DO NOT get your legal advice from the police (or from friends or relatives). Depending on what the district attorney does with the case, you could be charged with indecent exposure and be required to register as a sex offender for life. Strongly recommend you hire a lawyer to go to court for you on your first court date, if you have a lawyer you don't have to go to court or take time off from work or school.

You can't remember if you peed in public? If you go into court with that story, they will add another one for public intoxication.

If you are arrested and charged with a crime, what can you do? Defend the charges. Go to court, enter a not guilty plea, arrange bail reduction or OR, set up and attend the court hearing[s] and trial date[s]. File evidence suppression or other motions as applicable. Raise all the available defenses with whatever admissible and credible witnesses, evidence and facts are available for legal arguments for motions, plea bargaining, or at trial. Go to trial if it can't be resolved with motions or a plea bargain. There is no magic wand to wave and make it all disappear. If you don't know how to do these things, then hire an attorney that does, who will try to get a decent outcome or plea bargain for you. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help you use whatever defenses you may have. If you can't afford private counsel, apply for the Public Defender.

You need to hope they don't amend the charges to a sex offense that carries sex offender registration requirements. It can happen.
