Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
i recieved several moving violations in l.a. about 7 years ago. One for speeding one for not wearing a seat belt. I failed to appear for both tickets. What is the max penalty for this first time offender? Also i've heard things like this fall of your record after 7 years. Is that true in this case?

Nice try, no brass ring. Warrants are forever, and you have one for each case you failed to appear, probably with several thousand dollars in bail each. You would likely be taken away in cuffs if you are stopped or come in contact with law enforcement anywhere. To clear them, you must appear in each issuing court, with or without an attorney, and deal with the court's 'annoyance' at you. I generally tell clients to expect that if your attorney appears [proving you've paid the price of counsel, thus a penalty] he may be able to convince the court to reduce the cost and penalties down to the price of the original ticket fine, with some modest fine added as penalty for the FTA. If these are in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me if serious about dealing with them.
