Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

my record

I was once a gang member and remember getting stopped by policy as a teenager a million times and having my photo taken. Is there any way i can go to the station and have these documents released to me now? I am now 34 yrs old and a law abiding citizen.

Re: my record

You might (or might not) be able to see the documents or even get copies of them, but you won't be able to remove them from the police department's records.

Re: my record

No. Records are forever, and that data is part of your local record. However, only convictions count against you. If you have none, then stop worrying; the record of stops & photos simply stay in the police files. If you do have convictions, then consider sealing your juvenile record or expunging your adult record. Feel free to contact me if you need to do so. Congratulations on having come to your senses and getting out of the 'lost culture'. Typically, the last problem and hard choice for ex gang members is to remove tats to make a clean break with the past. People judge you on your appearance, whether you like it or not. Best wishes.
